Quality control

GDD’s quality control and certification procedures conform to the most stringent specifications issued by Philips.

GDD’s quality control instruments:

  • Datarius CD CS4 and Optitest for clean room physical and digital testing (5).
  • Prometheus for clean room optical testing (1).
  • Alea System CD Judge with bit-to-bit control (1).

Certification of operators

To provide all guarantees to our customers that our quality and process control procedures conform to the most stringent specifications, GDD operators are trained and certified by the suppliers of the various items of equipment deployed for production and measurement.

Production quality controls:

  • On line on every piece
  • Checking the substrates for birifringence, dishing and other key characteristics of optical storage media on batch production start-up and every 200 discs produced.
  • Control of physical dimensions on production start-up and at end of production for each batch.
  • Electro-optical tests every 500 discs produced.

Printing

Each printing machine is equipped with an Integral Vision Systems resource for control of the inner ring (reference) and of the specifications of each disc.

Contamination

Each spindle has a cover label indicating reference number, name of operator and date of production.

Working information

All machines feature check points for all production steps. All unplanned for events are monitored and duly managed.

Security

Many CD references and practically all DVD references can be considered sensitive data. GDD has introduced procedures and measures for constantly monitoring the material produced and/or purchased by third parties during the production process.

The production plant areas dedicated to replication, printing and packaging are controlled and access is restricted exclusively to authorized operators.

Production rejects are scrapped via a special procedure. Similar procedures also apply during the printing and packaging stages.

The products in the storehouse which are ready for transport/shipping are stored in a special safe, restricted-access area.
